Unless otherwise specified, all installation shall be in accordance to approved shop drawings and contract specifications. Drawing plans, schematics, and diagrams indicate general location and arrangement of Fan Powered Box units.
Install Fan Powered Box as indicated unless deviations to layout are approved on coordination drawings.
Transfer the Fan Powered Box units from the stores to the working area, taking into account the make, model, capacity, and tag number, this will ensure the correct FPB is installed at the correct location.
Determine the location of the FPB units and mark out on the concrete. Follow the sequence in the marking of supports locations as per approved construction drawing and manufacturer’s recommendations for installation of the unit.
Note: Due to the unit weight, FPB Terminal Units shall be suspended from the uppermost ceiling, independent of the false ceiling grid.
Install the supports to the specific location. Now slowly lift the unit at its position and check the air flow direction of the unit. Then connect first the upper support in order to gain balance and provide the angle support on the base of the unit for the alignment.
Level and align the unit properly, as this may affect proper operation of the controls and/or terminal unit.
Ensure that all connection and corner joints are properly sealed with approved sealant material to avoid any air leaks during testing and operation.
Complete the electrical connection as per approved electrical drawing.
Take the required action to protect the exterior and interior of the Fan Powered Box unit during and after the installation.
Attach and fix identification labels on the equipment once the installation is completed.
During installation & after the units have been successfully inspected, check & clean the unit from all debris and cover with polythene sheet to secure & protect the unit from moisture and dust ingress until such time as the units are available for commissioning.
Fan Powered Box Duct & Electrical Connections
Connect the ductwork to the unit using flexible connections of full size of the equipment to avoid the transfer of vibration into the building structures as specified.
Connect the duct works requirements as per specifications.
Fix supports in position ensuring that all fixing are secure.
Connect duct works to FPB determining the correct air flow direction, duct location, type and size.
After installation of the units and before connection of duct, check for presence of any object inside the terminal and remove the same.
Connect wiring “Low-Voltage Electrical Power Conductors and Cables.”
Ground the FPB “Grounding and Bonding for Electrical System.”
Inspection and Testing of Fan Powered Box FPB
During installation, ensure that the FPB unit complies with the specification requirements and notify the main contractor / consultant in advance at least 24 hours before installation inspection must be made.
Rectify any installation defects and resubmit for approval.
Ensure a factory authorized service representative to inspect test and adjust field assembled components and equipment installation, including connections, and to assist in field testing. Report results in writing and submit to the consultant.
Perform the following field test and inspections and prepare test reports:
Operational Test: After electrical circuitry has been energized, start units to confirm proper motor rotation and unit operation.
Test and adjust controls and safety devices. Replace damage and malfunctioning controls and equipment.
Remove and replace malfunctioning units and retest as specified above.
