This civil work method statement describes the brief procedure and responsibilities of site personnel who are involved in the work for protection screed of waterproofing membrane.

Project manager is overall responsible for the implementation of this method during the project civil works related to Screeding works.

The site engineers are responsible for proper execution, arrangement, co- ordination & supervision for the quality, safety & delivery of work.

Approved Concrete Ready Mix Supplier is responsible for the continuous delivery of the concrete as per the approved concrete design mix & project specification requirements, from batching, transporting, controlling of temperature & slump, up to taking the required concrete test cubes samples upon arrival to site.

The Project QA/QC Manager & Engineers shall ensure that execution team is following this method statement & implementing the site inspection procedures.

QA/QC Engineers shall monitor, check, control & document the quality of concrete delivered to site and the quality of protection screed work of waterproofing membrane during the entire duration of casting.

Safety Engineer or Safety Officer will ensure the implementation of hse plan at work site.

HSE Requirements During Protection Screed

Prime importance shall be given to safety of personnel and protection of existing utility services. Make sure that the personnel involved are thoroughly aware of the company HSE regulation.

Any machineries and equipment must be operated by well trained and experienced operators/personnel.

Use of protective clothing and equipment will be necessary at project site.

HSE engineer will ensure that any special protective clothing or equipment required and any signs relating to the wearing of helmets, eye protection, ear defenders, visibility vest etc., are ordered and available for use on site.

All the subcontractors are made aware of any site requirements, especially for the wearing of safety helmets.

HSE will instruct staff about the proper handling and lifting of materials as required, especially for the handling of materials which could cause injuries to the hands.

Task risk assessment shall be issued by the safety officer which shall be posted on the working area all the time.

Sequence of Work for Protection Screed of Waterproofing Membrane

Inspection of completed layers of water proofing should be carried out to make sure there is no damage or any unsatisfactory workmanship.

Proceed with concreting of the protection screed at the required thickness of 50 mm, only after unsatisfactory condition have been rectified.

Clean and prepare the water proofing surface according to Manufacturer/ Supplier.

Remove all dirt or deleterious materials and other pouring materials which can damage the water proofing membrane during concrete pouring.

Establish the reference elevation from SSL and high level elevation of Concrete Protection Screed as per approved shop drawing and Specification.

Install the approved gauge of polyethylene sheets as per method statement of waterproofing manufacture/suppliers.

Install the forms along the construction joints of the protection screed.

Get the approval from the consulting engineers for application or placing of concrete.

Placement of Concrete

Determine the weather condition like hot condition, sand storm condition, rainy condition or sunny condition, before placing the order of concrete to ready mix supplier accordingly.

Sprinkle clean water on the top of polyethylene sheet for bonding of concrete.

On arrival of the Ready Mix Concrete take necessary steps for QC testing of concrete like slump test, temperature and volume at concrete check point.Method of Statement for Protection Screed of Waterproofing Membrane

Place the ready mix concrete by using the concrete mobile pumps or direct pouring with chute and follow the basic method statement for placing of concrete.

When the ready mix concrete is placed on the area, level the concrete according to approved level of screed.

Surface finish the screed according to specifications or approval by engineers.

When the initial set of concrete occurs, apply immediately an approved curing compound or water curing as per approval from consultant.

Quality Control Checks

Monitor the Temperature and Slump of Ready Mix Concrete

Ensure the quality of delivered ready mix concrete at site

Make sure that proper concrete cube sampling as per project specification is done.

Ensure good quality workmanship, required thickness during pouring activity
