Construction QA/QC Quality Manager & Engineer Job Description

Project job descriptions for different job titles are prepared and implemented as part of a good quality management system.

Before start of a project normally organization chart is prepared and submitted for the approval of the client and consultant.

Some clients provide standard formats for job descriptions on the other hand many contracting companies have their own JD formats which are also acceptable from clients.

In this article we are covering two job titles for quality manager and engineers.

Below job descriptions are typical documents which can be updated and customized as per different project and client requirements.

JD For QA/QC Manager

1. Verifying the implementation and operation of the quality assurance and control systems, by planning and conducting internal quality audits and inspection activities on head/corporate office and site offices.

2. Verifying that the company quality policy, is fully understood, implemented, operated and maintained.

3. Ensure implementation and continuous improvement in overall Quality Systems.

4. Ensure that all contractual / company and local authority requirements for Quality, Health Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements are complied with.

5. Review, update and control, the distribution of the Quality Management Procedure, Quality Manual and related procedures for Infrastructure, MEP, Civil and other subcontractors and divisions

6. Generate project specific quality plans for Civil and Infrastructure projects.

7. Ensuring adequate training / awareness of company personnel for Quality systems.

9. Ensure Customer Satisfactions are monitored / measured and improvement / corrective actions taken for weak areas

10. Ensure that all non-conformance issues, are promptly investigated, corrective and preventive actions are proposed / implemented and are quickly closed out.

11. Ensure that the contractual quality requirements of a project are fully communicated to all key personnel, so that their roles in fulfilling these requirements are fully understood.

12. Ensure that all subcontractors’ quality systems and plans are acceptable to the company as applicable to the “Project Contract”.

13. Ensure that Subcontractor’s / Supplier’s quality systems are implemented and effective.

14. Ensure that the calibration of all inspection, measurement and test equipment is conducted according to the defined schedule.

15. Conduct reviews of the approved suppliers and subcontractor’s list.

16. Liaise with the Clients quality representative, to ensure that all potential and actual quality issues are fully resolved.

Job Description JD For Project QA/QC Engineer

  1. Coordinate and monitor all execution team and sub contractors team and their work.
  2. Ensure the requirements of the company QMS in accordance with ISO 9001: 2015 is followed.
  3. Inspect and record all the material received.
  4. Implementing all QA / QC systems at all the sites under his jurisdiction.
  5. To conduct inspection of raw materials bought out items and review of material test certification and specification requirement.
  6. To interface and coordinates with Consultants / Clients for QC matters & coordinate with third party inspections agencies for all related inspection activities.
  7. Plan, organize & implement test plans according to project requirements and Consultant / Client specifications.
  8. To plan & conduct subcontractor inspection activities and reviews of subcontractor work.
  9. Inspect and supervise all inspection activities like Civil & structural Tests, Inspections such as soil compaction, moisture content, gradation, concrete slump, concrete compression, survey line and grades etc.
  10. Organizing for surveillance and Inspection activities as per the requirements.
  11. Organizing for general inspection on all subcontractor work.
  12. Providing necessary inputs / guidance to respective site staff for more improvement and to achieve project feasibility.
  13. Monitors contracts with approved quality control plans make recommendations for improvement for standards.
  14. Responsible for quality control lab, generating documents as per the contractual requirement or procedure.
  15. Attending all meetings with connect to meetings Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
  16. Perform Inspection to verify compliance of all the sites under his jurisdiction.
  17. Coordinate and collect material sampling, organizing for testing of materials and submitting material test reports to the concerned authorities.
  18. Preparing non compliance document with inspection report periodically.
