Installation Of Passenger’s Elevator Hooks, Hook Beams & Divider Beams

Prior transferring materials from lay down, the foreman shall make a materials inventory at the lay down area as per approved shop drawings if the all materials required for the passenger’s elevator hooks, hook beams and divider beams are all available at site. If found the materials available at site, the foreman shall take permission from the site Engineers that the installation for passenger’s elevator hooks, hook beams and divider beams are ready.

Then, take necessary layout by taking the surveyor on site for exact and correct location for the installation. Take all coordinates and level required and marked them properly at site.

If all marking required at site are done as per layout, the foreman now checks the assembly drawings for materials scheduling. (Meaning priority materials to be brought to the site from the lay down area).

While the materials are transferred to the site from the lay down, the foreman shall assign the installer to take concrete drilling if required as per actual marked on site. After all concrete drilling are done, the foreman shall re-inspect again the concrete holes are correct before fixing the beams.

Divider Beams: First, the divider beams has to be installed as per erection drawings. It has to be as per approved shop drawings. Lift the divider beams by the chain block and align the beam prior bolting or anchoring. If found ok, the base plate of the beam shall be bolted or anchor and tight them properly using spanner.

Hook Beams: When all divider beams has been installed, then followed by the hook beams. The hook beams shall be fixed to the lift separately. It has to be fixed to the concrete wall as per approved shop drawings. Concrete wall shall be drilled and fix the chemical anchoring as per approved materials and installed the hook beams and then fix the elevator hook as per approved shop drawings.

If, there are any modification or rectification of the fabricated beams required as site because of the site condition the foreman shall informed the site engineer. If cutting required, the workers shall used gas cutting and grind the burs and do all necessary permit for the work at site.

However, if there is no any need of modification or rectification of the materials, the foreman shall inform the concern site engineer that the work is done. The site engineer issues an Inspection request to the quality control engineer or department for inspection purposes. If found acceptable the installed materials shall remained however, if there any defect found by the consultant who approved the IR, therefore, the foreman shall rectify the as per commented to the IR. After rectification the IR shall be re-issued for re-inspection.
