Interlocking Blocks Bricks & Tiles Paving Best Method Statement

Below is a brief paving method statement that is useful for interlocking blocks, interlocking bricks and interlocking tiles paving works.

Following is list of necessary resources, equipment and tools for doing the block paving works.

Before start of the paving activity necessary approval is mandatory. Provide stepping, shoring and shuttering for all excavations beyond 1 meter depth and depending on the soil strata.

Method of Installing Interlocking Blocks Bricks & Tiles Pavers

Make sure that available interlocking tiles are as per the approval from client.

Also ensure that color and thickness of the tiles are in accordance with the drawings and specifications.

Prepare sub grade by leveling and compacting the graded surface to attain the required degree of compaction of the maximum dry density.

Install the kerbstones to the target level and plumb, as shown in the drawings. Provide proper Hunching with mass concrete for the Kerbstones as per the finishing details.

Upon completion of necessary curing period, do the back filling by the sides of the kerbs. Take necessary care to avoid any disturbance in the alignment of kerbs during compaction.

Make sure that sub base is of approved material and minimum 150 mm thick compacted to 95% of MDD (or as specified). It shall be spread evenly, watered, shaped and graded to the required grade and cross section.Paver Interlocking Blocks Installation Method Statement

Provide laying course with coarse sand (0-5 mm) to a minimum thickness of 50 mm.

Do the laying work evenly and compact to the desirable compaction level.

Lay the paving interlocking blocks or bricks in Herringbone pattern unless otherwise shown on the drawings.

Ensure that the joints between interlocking bricks / blocks shall not exceed 3 mm. Compact the block paving using plate compactor, after each 20 square meter of lying.

Brush fine sand over the paving stones, half filling the joints, fill the top half of the joints with betonies or any approved material and use plate vibrator for further compaction.

Once the compaction is complete, remove all the surplus material and debris from the working area to make it clean and tidy.
