This plumbing method statement covers the nature and type of work for drainage outlets stainless steel shower gullies for the project as per site requirements. Method statement also covers frequency of which inspections are to be carried out.
All documentary requirements for the installation works will be submitted for approval of consultant and this will include manufacturers data, certificate of compliance, brand designation, type and class including the samples.
The quality and plumbing engineers shall verify that the supervisor/foreman with construction responsibilities for installation is familiar with this method statement and is issued with copies of the inspection checklists and test plans in accordance with the project quality plan.

All Instruments will be checked and calibrated to ensure accuracy before using at site.
General Requirements for Installation Of Shower Gullies and Drain Outlets
All workers to attend safety induction conducted by main contractor and given specific training on the safe installation methods.
Task lighting to be ensured prior to start of Floor Drainage installation especially in low light areas.
Install straight pipes with fewer joints as much as possible.
Use standard fittings for all changes in directions and change in size, shape and connection.
Installation of pipes and fittings to be vertical or horizontal to structural elements to avoid diagonal run.
The Site Engineer and Site Supervisor will give necessary instructions to tradesmen (Plumber/Pipe fitter) and provide necessary approved construction/shop drawings of latest revision along with coordinated layouts.
Site Supervisor/Foremen will also check that proper tools and equipment are available to carry out the work and are in compliance with contract specification.
Install Stainless Steel Shower Gully & Drain outlets as indicated on the approved shop drawing and all requirements of local government when applicable.
The site supervisor also explains to the tradesmen regarding the applicable safety precautions as per project health and safety plan.
Care should be taken to implement and ensure the requirements of the manufacture and any of his technical manual etc.
Ensure the specified test on plant and equipments will not invalidate the manufacturer’s/supplier’s warranty.
Supervisor should closely monitor the activity, if he finds any operative is lagging on safe work competency, he will be sent for reinduction and even retraining if deemed necessary.
Installation Procedure / Sequence Of Work
Installation of Shower gullies & Drain Outlets shall be done in accordance with the approved shop drawings and specification and properly coordinated with the civil contractor for exact locations and floor levels, the structural markings shall be done for reference.
Pipes and fittings must be completely installed as per the approved layout shop drawings and with proper supports and without any deflection in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations and specifications.
Make sure that the installation works for shower gullies & drain outlets are leveled using spirit level.
Reinforcing steel bars will be tied closely in all sides in order to hold the Stainless steel shower gullies & drain outlets to prevent from moving away from the center of the opening and upon pouring entry of cement and water proofing materials coordinate civil contractor for additional chipping needed for the openings.
Fix Drainage pipes just to reach the bottom of the slab level opening to take exact depth and height of the Shower gullies & Drain Outlets for bottom connection.
Upon closing the openings ensure that water proofing is done and thermocol is also placed around the pipes connecting to the bottom of the Shower gullies & Drain Outlets.
Install support rods or brackets bellow the fittings elbows connecting the stainless steel shower gullies & drain outlets as per approved shop drawing and manufacturer recommendations and project specification.
Provide the correct gradient as indicated on the shop drawings. Slopes for the drainage pipes will be maintained as per the approved shop drawings and specifications.
Additional supports shall be provided at branch connections and changes of direction on suspended pipework installations to provide a stable and secure pipework system capable of being ridded through without detriment to the other installation.
After complete installation, clean and sealed all shower gullies & drain outlets to protect from any foreign materials and other construction debris falling inside.
Raise Request for inspection of installation of Shower gullies & drain outlets for supports/brackets as per the approved shop drawing details and according to manufacturers’ recommendations and specifications.
Health and Safety Requirements
While using the Power Tools for the Installation; ensure that it is fit for the work and to be inspected and color coded by the competent electrician.
All plant tools tackles will have valid certificate. Lifting machines, appliances and gear to be examined by qualified rigger and come with valid certification.
Operatives working at height to wear their full body harness and should be anchored to a rigid point.
Work inside shafts are not allowed without work permit and supervision. Work areas to be provided with proper lighting and ventilation at all times.
Follow the Safe Working Procedures and Precautions that are mentioned in the Manufacturer Instruction Manual.
Ensure adequate power supply through an isolating device.
Use only appropriate Industrial Sockets on leads and Tools.
Ensure proper cable management.
Supervisor/ Foremen will closely supervise all operations.
Appropriate PPE’s (Hand Gloves, Eye Goggles and Dust Mask) to be issued and ensure its correct usage.
Do not use the leads/cords to lift the tools.
