Method Statement For Installation Of Dehumidification Unit – Dehumidifier

1. Purpose

This method of statement describes the methodology and procedure of installation of  dehumidification unit for the project, and to ensure that all concerned persons are familiar with the sequence of activities, utilization of resources, and execution of the works in compliance with applicable Safety and Quality Procedures, and Project Documents and Specification.

2. Scope of Works

This document covers the following scope of works: This method statement is intended to outline the activities and the methods used installation of de-humidification unit or dehumidifier. All activities will be carried out in accordance with the contract details and in full compliance to the Contract Specifications and Documents. All work within the rights-of-way of the standards and specifications will be done in compliance with requirements issued by authorities.

6.2 Safety of Equipment’s Necessary measures will be taken for the safety of the equipment and any other works affected by the works subject of this document. Relevant entities which might require protection include any such works in the vicinity of the area of work or on the service access or discharge path. The construction team will ensure that any such requirements are documented.

7.3. Safety Training and Emergency procedures

Before commencing any works, all employees will attend a site safety induction training to ensure all safety measures are understood and implemented and to cover specific procedures in case of emergency. If necessary, practical training exercises will be conducted on escape routes, signage, evacuation and rescue.

7.4. First Aid

Prior to the commencement of work, arrangements will be made for medical facilities and medical personnel to be available from prompt attention to the injured person. The contractor’s vehicle assigned to the job site will be used for transporting the injured person to the first aid station and to the nearest hospital when required.

8. Detailed Construction Sequence (Methodology) 8.1. Procedure 8.1.2 MATERIAL HANDLING

  1. Workplace must be free of obstructions, clean and ventilated.
  2. Protective clothing must comply with current safety regulations in force in the region. No specific hazards are associated with the installation other than general ones identified in the installation manual.
  3. All electrical work must be carried out by qualified personnel in line with regulations in force.
  4. Unit must be lifted by fork lift or suitably sized frame (unit weight approximately 830 kg).
  5. Unit must be kept horizontal during lifting and sudden movements must be avoided.
  6. The required clearances around the unit must be observed.
  7. All panels and structural steel members shall be of G-90 galvanized steel, treated and painted prior to Assembly to provide a chlorine and pool chemical resistant finish. The paint shall be plastic epoxy based powder coating, applied 0.003 inch (2-3 mils) thick, and baked and bonded at 420 degrees F until it forms a hard vinyl textured surface.

8.1.3 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

  1. Provide three feet clearance around sides and four feet around compressor compartment of unit for airflow and service. Provide a means for access to all sides of the unit.
  2. After unpacking the unit should be inspected and any damage reported.
  3. Install the unit on a flat/level floor suitable for the weight of the unit. It is recommended that rubber mats be used between the floor and the feet of the unit in order to minimize vibrations.
  4. Fit the condense drain line in line with the instruction from manufacturer and technical specification. Good practice should be used in the design of the drain line and a drain trap should be incorporated.
  5. Fit duct connections to the return and supply where appropriate.
  6. Supply duct sizes should be at least equal to the sizes of the outlets on the unit. Ducting installation is beyond the scope of the dehumidifier supplier.
  7. Make electrical connections respecting the wiring diagrams shipped with the unit. Ensure that the power supply is within the acceptable range set out in the instruction manual.
  8. Follow start up procedure as outline on the instruction manual.
  9. Check correct unit operation. See relevant sections of the instruction manual.

9. Construction Program

9.1 Housekeeping The work area shall be maintained neat and tidy as reasonable practical at all times. 9.2 Protection of Executed Works Executed works in areas were other works are still being carried out shall be protected as per the contract requirements. 9.3 Responsibilities
