The purpose of this Method Statement is to define the procedures, responsibilities, installation methods, inspection requirements, testing protocols, commissioning activities, quality control measures, and safety requirements for the installation, testing, and commissioning of the Smoke Management System.
The objective is to ensure that all smoke extraction fans, smoke control dampers, motorized dampers, pressurization fans, ductwork, control panels, sensors, interfaces, and associated equipment are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with approved shop drawings, project specifications, local Civil Defense requirements, NFPA standards, ASHRAE standards, BS EN standards, manufacturer recommendations, and authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.
The completed smoke management system shall effectively control smoke movement during fire emergencies, maintain tenable escape routes, assist firefighting operations, and protect occupants by ensuring safe evacuation.
